I am an American woman.

I am still working on my first marriage. We have been working at it for almost 30 years now.  I am in love with my husband.

I am a Christian.

I am on a diet. Again..

I voted for Micheal Dukakis. (when no one else would!)

I visited the clinton White House, including the West Wing.

I voted for Hillary in the primaries.

I worked for the Republican National Committee in the 1980’s.

I attended a Presidential Inauguration.

I am a mother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, sister in law, daughter in law, cousin, friend, neighbor, wife, volunteer, Sunday school teacher, church member. But sadly, not yet a grandmother!

I have ancestors that arrived in the United States, from England in 1627.

I have a letter from Thomas Jeffferson, to one of my ancestors.

I am descended from Loyalists, who fought for England in the Revolution.

I am related to General William Tecumseh Sherman.

I have no immediate relatives who fought in World War 2.

I was a military wife. My husband served overseas in war.

I am now the mother of an American Soldier.

I have moved 14 times.

I have lived in several different states in the United States. I have travelled to and lived in other countries. I have friends on almost every continent.

I own my home.

I recycle.

I grow a vegtable garden.

I have dogs, cats and farm animals. Most of our pets are from  a pet rescue. A few years ago, I euthanized my faithful old dog who had cancer. I promised myself, I will never ever do that again! It was horrible. The dog never went to “sleep”, he howled and flinched in pain as his heart stopped. It is a lie. I betrayed my best friend, and hurt him unnecessarily. I am sorry.

I have been a member of the Teamster’s Union and the National Education Association. But, I have also been management, and negotiated on the other side of the table.

I have parents who are still alive and married to each other for over 50 years.

I have been very poor and pretty well off.

I have been working since I was 10 years old. I have had many jobs in my lifetime. I have owned my own business, worked for the state government, and the federal government. I have been elected to office. I have worked as a field hand, factory worker, lab assistant, telemarketer, janitor, sales clerk, grocery clerk, door to door salesman, home party salesman, waitress, daycare provider, gym manager, nursery director, dog kennel assistant, Hairdresser, EMT, restaurant hostess, receptionist, dietary assistant in a rest home and homeschool teacher. I have written a newspaper column, worked for a national political party, served on several community service boards and ran several fundraising functions.

I have  in my immediate family, relatives of Native American, Japanese and Mexican, nationalities.

I have relatives who are Mormons, Catholics, atheists, Seventh Day Adventists, Baptists, Methodists, New Agers who believe in reincarnation and Pentacostals.

I believe in life long learning, and that life offers a great education, if you will only take it.

I never have an uninformed opinion.

I am an American woman. A woman in America.
